Introduction

First, let me explain to you the use of this page… In this page I shall keep the biography of Melwen Dagda and try to keep it updated. Melwen Laegiel is the roleplaying character I currently use on Lord of the Rings Fanatics Plaza, which is a site I`ve been a member of for over five years. When I first joined as an ickle newbie I made a character named Aisil, an elf from Mirkwood, whom I played with for nearly five years. Recently some changed have happened though which caused me to say goodbye to Aisil and develop a new character. I couldn`t let go of everything from Aisil so Melwen is once again a Mirkwoodian elf. Biography

Name: Melwen Laegiel
Location: East of Thranduil`s halls, near the edge of the forest by Dale
Race: Silvan Elf
Age: Born in the early second age
Appearance (and personality): Melwen stands around 6′4″ tall and has bright blue eyes. Her hair is long and is coloured a soft shade of hazel and she often wears it loose, letting it flow in gently waves down her back. She inherited most of her appearance from her mother, while her personality was more like her fathers. Her mother had a rather reserved personality, mainly hiding her feelings from the world outside, while her father was always cheerful and wanting to be around other people. Melwen was leaning more towards the cheerful attitude of her father but could definitely enjoy being on her own with a good book too.

When it comes to clothes Melwen usually wears loose dresses in the colours of the forest with simple decorations, not wanting to attract too much attention to herself. Melwen is a shy elleth, but when ending up in a dangerous situation the braveness which she has inherited from her father appears, and she`d always stand up for her friends. Melwen hasn`t managed to find many friends in her life though, as her shyness often gets in the way of meeting new people.
History:
Melwen [Beloven Maiden] is a Silvan Elf, born as a daughter of Ithilwen [Moonlight Maiden] and Meldir [Beloved Man] in the second age. Melwen spend most of her life in Mirkwood, though she occasionally travelled to the other forests of Middle-Earth and spend some time there. She`d never been away from her place of birth for more than a few weeks at a time though, until she`d made the decision to go to Lothlorien. She has one sibling, Melethiel, a younger sister who still resides in Mirkwood. Her parents recently decided to sail into the west, which is what motivated Melwen to move away from Mirkwood for a while.

When Melwen  was a young elleth her father used to take her out into the forest and learned her how to use a bow. Her father mainly decided to teach her so she could protect herself from the spiders and other creatures of Mirkwood but was glad when his daughter discovered that archery could be practiced just for fun instead of only for protection too. Now, years later, the bow is still her preferred weapon, though she is interested in learning how to use other weapons for self-protection. Melwen used to spend most of her time in Mirkwood reading books, drawing pictures, playing music or practising her archery. Though Mirkwood was a dangerous place life was simple with few complications in their closed-off elven community, and it soon made her desire for something more in life. She never reacted to this desire, knowing that fitting into a new community would be hard. But after her parents had decided to leave Middle-Earth she realized how short life could be and that it was about time she`d explore more of the world.

So after thinking long and hard she decided to move to another kingdom for a while, knowing that she`d one day return to Mirkwood but wanting to learn more about the world surrounding her beloved Mirkwood. After pondering for a while she decided to go to Lothlorien for several years to increase her knowledge, following her niece Aisil. The choice was unusual for an elf from Mirkwood but the elves of Lothlorien didn`t seem to be too hateful towards her. She never felt quite at home though so recently she has moved back to Mirkwood and is currently busy settling in again.
